1.) It is correct that, like TE, the way this person "abused" the wave has caused a technical defect.
He probably even "screwed" with the internal Torx XZN 10 left-handed, and held the large one in place (meaning tightened, instead of loosened) icon_twisted.gif.

2.) A specialized tool should only be used for its intended purpose, and that does not include using an impact wrench.
But sometimes, there's just no other way.

I only use the impact wrench now because once, the shaft of the starter motor twisted around; the material used in the starter motors is far too soft.

- the applied moment is greater than the sum of the breakaway torque of the connection and the counter-torque of the rotor. The latter depends on the applied angular acceleration and the moment of inertia.
- ensuring that the working moment does not exceed the flow stress limit of the tool and the threaded connection;
Both can be safely achieved with a standard, non-oversized pneumatic impact wrench. You only need to turn the motor housing, not the rotor.

It becomes more difficult to tighten such a screw connection.
The torque wrench must be designed such that the difference between its torque and the opposing torque of the rotor corresponds to the tightening torque of the threaded connection. To achieve this, the torque wrench's limitation must be adjusted to match the rotor's moment of inertia (i.e.,). High-tech torque screwdrivers and calculations are used, or the nut is tightened with an unclear torque value.
Without it, a controlled suit can only be used with external support.
Otherwise, you'll end up paying for it later with a powerful impact wrench.

The vehicle is quite old, and it's uncertain whether it will survive the next generator replacement.

The recommended interval for replacing the slip rings on the T5 motor with AXE is 180,000 km; and in my case, I already had to replace them.
Re-centering the Lima on the console (on the T5) is a whole different story, and one that I don't want to get into... icon_twisted.gif
