Hi,

Okay, here's a silly question. How about the vacuum pump on your naturally aspirated diesel engine? It's not exactly unimportant for the VTG adjustment!

Greetings.
Thomas.

Almost every car has a vacuum source, because it's needed for the power brake booster (which operates using vacuum).

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi!

How about using a vacuum cleaner blower as a turbo? While it might not make much sense in the long run, as some of the power would be lost due to the alternator being under heavier strain.

However, as a kind of 'boost' function, quickly pressing the accelerator could activate the blower motor (at least 600W) while simultaneously reducing the load on the alternator, allowing the vehicle to briefly run on battery power. A temporarily increased injection volume would also be necessary.

Such a feature might be quite useful for overtaking maneuvers and would give the vacuum cleaner more power.

By the way: Are there any guidelines on how to determine the ratio of mechanical... What is the power output of a turbocharger relative to the increased power of the engine? (of course, including the necessary increase in fuel injection).

Calculate what kind of blower would be needed to not cause any resistance icon_smile.gif.

At 2000 RPM, it's approximately 1000 times the displacement per minute, if I'm not mistaken.

It would have to be quite a large piece to generate even just 100 millibar of pressure.
