Take a look at the fifth gear of the 100 HP Ibiza on page 5 of the PDF. It's 0.700, which translates to 47.5 km/h (approximately 29 mph) at 1000 rpm.

Right now, we're driving at 44.5 km/h while the engine is running at 1000 rpm.

That would translate to a real speed of 200.2 km/h at 4500 RPM.
With the fifth gear engaged at 100 horsepower, it achieves a real top speed of 213.7 km/h.

That could be an alternative, or am I missing something?

I've been searching for a defective gearbox like this for... 6 months now, but they're still relatively new... and the gears cost a fortune from VAG.

Topic of interest for those with sticky fingers: Can such a car, equipped with WFS, still be stolen?

Yes.
1. Wood hammer method: Obtain the key during a house burglary.
'Webcam passwords can also be cracked, but only with considerable effort using specialized computers or similar equipment.'

Or simply register a test drive using the diagnostic computer. icon_twisted.gif Then it can be done without a key and special computer.

Best regards, WarLord.

Jan's anti-wish gearbox:
6L Cupra TDI icon_arrow.gif Maximum power at 3750 rpm, which results in an impressive speed of 185 km/h in 6th gear with 205/45 R16 tires. icon_lol.gif

To achieve the catalogued top speed of 220 km/h, the engine would need to spin at 4460 rpm, and it's already significantly limited in its power output at that point. It's no wonder many Cupra drivers complain that they can't reach the stated top speed.

However, the closely spaced CVT transmission is actually quite pleasant to drive on the open road. It's a bit like driving a gasoline engine car; there's a gear for almost every starting speed that allows for decent acceleration and doesn't immediately reach its limit.

The connections on the long ASZ gearbox, especially between the 3rd and 4th gears, don't quite fit properly. When overtaking at speeds of around 70-80 km/h, each gear feels wrong: the 3rd gear finishes too quickly, and in 4th gear, the torque build-up takes too long icon_confused.gif.
