That aligns with my observation that the car has stalled on me even when I was turning too sharply in the second gear.

Could it be related to the fact that the full power isn't released when the clutch is engaged (I believe, for example, that the injection timing is shifted later)? This is programmed in for safety reasons to prevent overloading the drivetrain and the clutch. And with the older designs, that feature simply didn't exist yet.
