Hi Joegolf,
That thing about the smiling and the wrinkles forming at the corners of your mouth is really no joke! I once got to drive a 430 HP RS4. The most powerful car I had driven before that was my 100 HP PD-Golf. I actually spent two days just walking around with a grin on my face. (A comment from a colleague the next morning: 'What are you grinning about? New girlfriend and a lot of fun last night?')
I'm currently trying to get an RS4 prescribed by my health insurance company as a treatment for the depression I experience when I'm in my Golf and something new starts rattling again!
Regards,
Micha.
P.S.: I would still appreciate a solution to this issue.

Sports cars on prescription for depression! - hehehe.
If the state cannot afford it, I would also accept a girlfriend prescribed by a doctor .

According to what I've read, piston seizure can cause a hole to form in the piston.
How does that happen? Is the piston that thin?
Is it very tragic if the piston gets slightly fused to the nozzles?
In this process, only the shape of the basin changes.
Consequences... Compression... etc.?
Thank you, Peter.
P.S.: Can a 'tuning' module already cause piston melting?
Furthermore, I thought that the aluminum pistons were protected against heat by an additional layer?!?

Based on my own experience, I can say that this is more of a horror scenario, painted by the chip tuning industry in its conflict with the '10 cent' lobby.
Sure, that might happen somewhere, I guess.
But keep in mind...
Before any melting or fusion occurs, the fire department's rural firefighting unit stopped you. They mistakenly identified you as a plane crash, and now you're going to be covered in dust and smoke.
besides:
My cheapest 10-cent glow plug preheating indicator lightboxes from the internet, for example, will give me a flashing preheat indicator if I were to overdrive them.
'By the way, I'm very happy with it since 40t, but unfortunately, it's not temperature-sensitive, which means that right now, in the summer, I have to lower it less, otherwise the car behind me will look like a coal mine vehicle from the Ruhr area.'

@ Above
What percentage of the profit does your box generate?
I have 17% self-made content and no black rear end - and my rear is huge .
Both my KPower and my DZR bills showed the percentage.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

My assumption is as follows:
As long as only one cylinder is used and it consumes the excess oxygen (10-20%) present in the cylinders (thus not producing any 'Russians,' a term likely referring to misfires), piston melting is unlikely to occur. This is because the extended injection time will roughly correspond to the 10-20% increase often associated with basic engine tuning modifications.
When there's an additional boost in intake manifold pressure, the situation regarding excess oxygen changes, and consequently, the possibility of extending the injection duration is affected.
My question would have been: What are the symptoms and consequences of piston seizure, both with and without a hole in the piston?
Best regards, Peter.

Generally speaking, piston seizure and rust are not related.
I believe that it is an unproven assumption that a non-Russian Tune-TDI cannot melt. To determine this, one would need to know quite a few parameters of the engines – or simply test it extensively.
Why should the excess oxygen precisely terminate at the edge of the omega-shaped depression?

Generally speaking, piston melting and 'Russ' are not related.
Generally not, but it is assumed that the turbocharger boost pressure has already been increased by 50%.
... With an additional boost in charging pressure...
If the engine still isn't receiving enough oxygen to burn the injected diesel fuel, then the injection duration is likely being extended too much.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation without any explanations or examples.
I believe that the claim that a non-Russian Tune-TDI cannot melt is an unsubstantiated assumption.
My assumption was that a 'tuning' module would be used.
As far as I know, only the excess oxygen initially present in the cylinders is consumed during the combustion process by adding additional diesel fuel.
I don't believe there is enough excess oxygen present to cause a piston meltdown due to the extended injection time (caused by the tuning box) in an engine that doesn't produce soot.
Why should the excess of oxygen precisely end at the edge of the omega well?
No idea . I admit, I don't know.
Assumption: -/
Poor tuner without VAG-COM and workshop friends .
Best regards, Peter.

@Martin
Okay, that's just my experience with a noticeably overpowered gearbox, and I haven't experienced any damage yet, even after driving stages with a top speed of 20-30 km/h for extended periods.
This condition is not healthy (due to things like pollution and particulate matter), which is why I don't use it.
I could have attributed the same behavior to 'neuhaupe' or someone else, and in doing so, tried to alleviate his anxiety.
By the way, this doesn't apply to Munich's CDI taxis, which emit so much smoke that it's frightening.
[Speculate, keeping some guessed or invented numbers in mind.]
If injection starts at 4° before top dead center (OT) and stops 12° after, then 20% advance only represents a little more than 3°, which means the piston hasn't moved very much yet.
[Speculate from]
17%?
Mine isn't much better either; I don't measure it that precisely. It's always somewhere between 15% and 20%.
Increasing the power further -> won't achieve anything more by going over the Russian border, it will be less effective, says the rear end. It also says 50%, but mine weighs 1160 kg with me in it and 40% fuel. } However, I can't carry any paragliding equipment or similar anymore because of that weight.
Greetings.
