Hello everyone.
'For the past few days, I've been experiencing a problem where the engine loses power when accelerating to around 130 km/h. It seems to go into some kind of emergency mode and shuts off the turbo! If I stay below 130 km/h, it runs normally. If I turn off the ignition and restart the engine, the error is reset, and it runs normally again. I've already replaced the mass airflow sensor, but it didn't solve the problem. Best regards, Stefan.'

Hello,

As always in these cases: Have the error codes read out and, if necessary, have a diagnostic test run (see also the error database or other posts). Please post the results here.

What is the model year and engine code?
Tschüss

Hi.
It's an AJM engine, manufactured in July 1999, with a mileage of 60,000 kilometers.
The engine hasn't been tuned. The only modification I've made so far is installing an auxiliary radiator.
Best regards,
Stefan

Hello,

I drive a Passat PD 115 AJM.

If the problem 'randomly' appeared after the GRA (presumably a performance upgrade) was installed, I would next time check if it's still possible to get some acceleration from the GRA. Perhaps the control unit is receiving two different signals?!

(Just an idea.)

Good luck.

Hello.

The error has not occurred for a few days, but the error memory was still read.

17958 - Turbocharger boost pressure regulation differential.
08-10 - Limit exceeded - Intermittent.

and deleted.

Best regards,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,
I've been experiencing the same problem intermittently for about a year. Every time, the error memory was completely empty. The workshop couldn't find anything. I wrote a letter to VW's complaints department so that I would still have warranty coverage if the problem is ever found.
While driving at full speed, the engine power suddenly drops to a maximum of 100-130 km/h. After restarting the engine, everything is fine for about 3 months. I have experienced this 4 times already.
If you find out anything, let me know.
Holger.

Hello.

I got excited too soon - the error is back icon_sad.gif.
However, it seems there is a correlation with the outside temperature.
'This happens more often in warm weather. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor a few weeks ago because it was causing errors in the error memory.'
I can borrow a laptop with diagnostic software over the weekend. Can anyone tell me which parameter blocks/addresses I need to read out (boost pressure, MAF sensor signal, etc.) to narrow down the problem?

Best regards,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,

'I had the same problem with my Passat TDI 90PS. It annoyed me for a long time. Thanks to the people here in the forum, I was able to fix the problem. In my case, the turbocharger boost control valve was defective. Now everything is okay again. It costs about 30 euros to replace, and it's worth it.'

Best regards, Franz.

Hello Stefan,

Check the error database and search for your engine code!

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello.

I've now had a brand new MAF sensor for about 2 weeks, and the car has power again. The first MAF sensor I replaced was a 'slightly' used one that worked perfectly in another car (also an AJM) that it was taken from icon_confused.gif.
Interestingly, since then, it has only once gone into emergency mode during a longer highway drive. Could it be that the VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) system, for example, 'jams' after a longer drive at a constant speed, causing the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) to switch to emergency mode? I have already checked the VTG linkage for proper movement, and I was also able to finely adjust the valve using a syringe and vacuum.

Stefan.

I'm having a similar problem! Please take a look at what's happening on my end.

Okay, I understand. Please provide the German text you want me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.
