Hello! Unfortunately, I haven't found a suitable topic for my problem icon_sad.gif.

My problem: About a week ago, my Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI (year 1997, 66 kW) suddenly started to jerk. A few days later, the power dropped as if the turbo was defective (limp mode?), and the check engine light comes on intermittently. After restarting the car, the problem is temporarily resolved for about a minute, then it happens again.
When the engine was cold, there were no problems; when it reached operating temperature, it started to misfire, with a loss of power, and the glow plug indicator light came on. icon_confused.gif

What could that be... Please help.... KYLIE icon_wink.gif

HI.

Your car is trying to tell you something (the glow plug indicator is flashing).

Now you just need to ask the right question: So either read the error codes yourself or have someone else do it for you.

Otherwise, all we can say is:
It seems something is broken.

I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is with those computer-controlled engines called TDIs.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Very helpful, thank you!

Two error codes were found and deleted during the reading process.

The mechanic said something about 'the needle...something' (I'm sorry, I didn't catch the rest).
broken; approximately €300 replacement cost.

Any other ideas?

If your mechanic tells you that your car has indicated a problem with the throttle position sensor (that's the part whose name you always forget), then I would trust what they say. We are usually not in this profession to sell unnecessary things (although, if we were, we'd be working at ATU... but even there, some people can use a diagnostic tool). So, you'll be left with no other option than to bite the bullet and have the faulty part replaced. You'll see, it's a miracle! The yellow light will stop blinking, the jerking will cease, and your car will regain its power; it will return from the limp mode in which it is currently operating.
BTW... 'stuttering' (referring to an engine or other device) + light bulb... a reasonably skilled professional would only need the tester to confirm their suspicion; the NBF (Negative Brake Force) cannot be defective in any clearer way.

Best regards,
Dominique.

More specific error codes would be helpful. As soon as the indicator light starts blinking again, there must be at least one error present. Therefore, to be absolutely sure, check again and write it down. However, "NBF" (No Bus Found) is already extremely likely.

If you had read the technical articles thoroughly, you would know what's causing it when someone talks about something related to the needle......something , and you would also know how to check if it's due to that before replacing it at a high cost icon_wink.gif.

And always be friendly, because we are answering your questions for free and in our spare time:!:icon_evil.gif.

'I was just hoping for a second opinion from unbiased experts to confirm whether my problem is actually caused by that. I've already been told it's the mass airflow sensor (MAF), and that came from a reputable workshop.'

Okay, let's say it's the needle lifter mechanism. Is there a way to repair or verschandeln it? Are there any known solutions or experiences with this issue?

Thank you, Kyl! E icon_rolleyes.gif

Hallo Kylie,
