Hello,
Since there are so many experts here, I have a question about the VAS5051. I suspect many workshops have already encountered this problem.
Is it possible to retrofit a Wi-Fi or USB connection to the VAS5051 to log data? According to Skoda's regulations, it is now mandatory to electronically record the data.
A friend from a workshop asked me about it. It seems to be a Windows 95 computer, so USB probably won't be easy to set up, but Wi-Fi should be possible since there's a PCMCIA slot. Does anyone have experience with this device and a possible upgrade?

Thank you.

Quite a few things are possible, but try installing the driver on that particular part... icon_wink.gif

Apart from that, the device has a network port built-in, which would be much simpler.

Does this part have a network port? I haven't seen that before.
I am not familiar with the thing.
I already suspected that the drivers might be the problem.
But a hard drive with a network connection should work, so a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device.
I'll take a look to see if it's possible to make it write to a NAS.

THX.

Why a NAS? Just connect that device directly to the company network, and then it can send the reports automatically... icon_wink.gif

Setting up a NAS can be just as tedious as installing drivers, in my opinion.

I'm not entirely sure how things work in the workshop, but from what I've seen, that device is on a diagnostic cart that's always located somewhere else, so the cable would be a hindrance.
I thought a small NAS, maybe for around €150, would be a solution.

What's wrong with only connecting the device temporarily? It doesn't even get electricity easily... icon_smile.gif
