Hello everyone,
'I have a 1Z engine in my T3 Syncro 16'. Unfortunately, when I bought the complete engine, it wasn't entirely from a single vehicle, so I'm not really sure if the engine control unit (ECU) is actually equipped with the original chips.
The part number of the control unit (STG) is: 028 906 021 C, which is at least printed on the cover (plastic).
I haven't looked into this topic for a while, but if I remember correctly, it should be an MSA12 STG. That means the chips are directly soldered onto the board? Mine, however, has a socket, and the chips have a handwritten white label on them.
The engine really has a lot of power in the lower RPM range, which, in my opinion, is a bit too much for the T3 gearbox.
Perhaps you could tell me more based on the pictures?
Regards,
Carsten.

Hello Carsten,
die Originalchips sehen anders aus. You have a private message.
Best regards, Rainer.

Definitely not original... I've handled quite a few control units (let's say), but until now, none of the chips have been socketed, and none have been manually labeled.
You could also take a look at the solder joints; it should be easier to see there.

If you have VAG-COM, you can quickly identify the issue. If possible, check the boost pressure and fuel injection amount and compare them to the target values listed in the "technical data and target values" thread. Fährt mit Golf 3 TDI Umbau (von AFN auf ARL)

Just a small note: It's not the 28-pin socketed chips that tend to pop out during the chipping process, but the two square ones on the other board... at least, that's how we've done it so far^^.
Best regards, Max.

Just a small note on the side. It's not the 28-pin socketed chips that tend to fly out when being chipped.

Greetings Max
Then you have something there... uhm - how should I put it... 6 - put .
The two PLCCs are not really connected to the data buses of the two 80C517 controllers.
on the detached circuit board.
PLCC32 OTPs are only soldered onto the MSA15, which only has one circuit board.
Best regards,
Rudi
