Hello everyone,

Are there actually DPFs (Diesel Particulate Filters) that can function without electronic control?
So that they can be retrofitted to minimize visible soot emissions?

Best regards, Rodion.

Well,

A standard aftermarket diesel particulate filter is universal and has absolutely nothing to do with the engine control unit. However, the cheaper ones from Bosal and GAP no longer come with a General Operating Permit (ABE). Since I have one of these filters and live in an area with strict emissions regulations, I can tell you: Even before installation, it was clear to me that the Bosal filter wouldn't be any good... based on my experience with their rearview mirrors, I can also say that it doesn't visually obstruct anything!

Also, if you're driving a Russian-made vehicle, pay attention to where the exhaust fumes are coming from and consider making some modifications. Think about how quickly it might get clogged. Checking the air filter and fuel injectors, then doing a test drive, will be more effective in my opinion.

Hello,

The problem is this: I have a vehicle without an engine.
Either a gasoline or diesel engine with increased power will be installed.
The diesel engine would then produce soot, which of course needs to be concealed somehow.

Are there really no suitable diesel particulate filters available?
Possibly some truck filters icon_lol.gif.

Best regards, Rodion.

Hello... again: If a diesel engine has been performance-enhanced and the work was done correctly, it shouldn't produce excessive smoke. Anything that produces a lot of smoke is nonsense, poorly executed, and wasteful.
I'm closing this thread because the information provided is of limited value.

Well, the author of this work feels overlooked, so I'm including his email below, and anyone who wants to can reply!

Hello.

I'm a little surprised that you closed the topic.
It has a slightly patronizing tone.

I would like to meet someone with that level of expertise.

Please don't be so narrow-minded; after all, this forum isn't just for VAG TDIs...

Good day.

Hello!

That reminds me of three manufacturers whose diesel engines, without a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), actually produce quite a bit of emissions. And these are current models, by the way...

I have the retrofitted DPF version from Bosal in my 206 HDI70. The inspector who inspected and approved it looked at the part and said, "Well, if it's financially worthwhile, then we'll approve even such nonsense!" The Bosal DPF looks like those mini-catalytic converters that suddenly allow Euro 1 cars to pass emissions tests - it's just a bit bigger. Installation was simple: Cut out a piece of the intermediate pipe according to the template, right behind the flexible section, deburr it, and insert the part in between. Tighten two pipe clamps and check for leaks.

Okay, so what happens now? The workshop claims they installed exactly what was ordered. For them, the matter is closed. The manufacturer of the DPF urges everyone to remain calm, as they are confident in their product and want to use new test reports to prove that it meets the required specifications. My tax office wants to withdraw the subsidy (tax credit will be lost) and re-impose the vehicle tax with the "without DPF" surcharge. At the same time, a notification has been sent to the registration authority to delete the entry for a particulate reduction level. The consequence is that, even if Bosal regains approval for its filters, I would have to reapply for the deleted entries at the registration office, provide new proof that a DPF is installed, and pay for a new vehicle registration certificate.

"There is product liability protection for the registered Bosal filters. I received the tax credit for my Golf."
But it seems clear that this thing is useless!
