KPerformance: Troubleshooting and Solutions

A friendly hello to everyone.

"Recently, I've been having a problem where KPerformance won't run. I can open it, but when I press the button to start the measurement, I always get a message saying that the program is no longer working correctly and is therefore being stopped. Also, the VCDS feature "Acceleration" (which also measures acceleration) is not working either."
I've already tried disabling the firewall, but it didn't help.
I'm using a laptop with Vista, and I've already performed measurements using KPerformance, but with an older version.
VAG-COM.
Have you experienced anything similar? Do you have any solutions or suggestions? Or does anyone have a tip as to what might be causing this?

What version of VCDS is being used, and what is its data version?
What exactly are the error messages for both actions? Screenshots would be best.

Then I'm not alone.
I'm experiencing the exact same problem. My laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo with Vista. I'm using the latest USB version of VCDS from Rainer. I've already reinstalled Vista without any security software (unfortunately, I couldn't install XP), and it still doesn't work. I'll try running it in safe mode on my way home today.

It doesn't work even in safe mode. It's probably a problem with Vista.

For Rainer, for potential fixes in later versions:
In Safe Mode on Vista Home Premium, when you click on...,
"Press the 'start' button." "API server not found" or similar.
In safe mode with network drivers, as well as in normal mode, the error message "Application failed to start" appears, along with an address indicating a protection violation.

It starts without any problems on the stationary computer in the garage, which is running Windows XP. However, that computer is stationary.

The XP installation failed on the laptop. I thought it would be the easiest thing to do. When starting from the XP CD, the setup doesn't find any installed hard drive. It might be worth trying to use Partition Magic and wiping Vista first. However, if it still doesn't work, and I don't know if it will, I won't have an operating system. I didn't get a CD for Vista. I only have a recovery tool for backing up and restoring HD images, but that will be gone if I format the drive.

Before I jump into the deep end and just try it, I'll test the network settings in Vista one more time. I'll get back to you.

Please unpack this KPerformance.exe file and place it in the plugins directory.
If it crashes again, please take a Screenshot of the Windows error message, including the addresses.

The "normal" Vista mode is fine.

The error is definitely in the program; I'm just not entirely sure yet where the problem lies.

Okay, I'm going to get started on this now. Should I delete anything from the "Plugins" folder beforehand, or does VCDS automatically copy the newly added files?

Well, the program name is the same, so the .exe file will overwrite the existing one. Since the old .exe file doesn't work for you anyway, you don't need to back anything up.

Thank you for the support. So, was the problem related to Vista? Will I likely experience something similar with the VCDS feature acceleration?
But that doesn't really matter, because Ross-Tech will probably fix the bug in the next software update.
It's important to me that your plugin is working again.

Vista exhibited a slightly different behavior in its messaging, which revealed a bug in the display class.
