Are these values (oil pressure / boost pressure) normal?

Engine: 1.9 TDI, 90 hp - Type 1Z.

Hello everyone!
Are the following values, which are displayed on my additional instruments, normal?

Oil pressure:
With a cold engine: up to 6 bar.
With a warm engine: 2 to 4 bar during driving, and sometimes below 1 bar at idle (at a traffic light).

Boost pressure:
Idling: 0 bar.
During operation: Depending on the accelerator pedal position, up to 1 bar, with the gauge occasionally exceeding 1.0 bar for a short time if the accelerator is suddenly pressed fully.

...even though the large range of oil pressure between cold and warm temperatures might seem suspicious to someone new to TDI engines.

But is it normal for the boost pressure to be zero at idle?
And is the oil pressure also below 1 when the engine is warm and idling?

The boost pressure is measured relative to the atmospheric pressure, and at idle, there is essentially no difference. In other words, the idle boost pressure is absolutely 1 bar.

I also have the "alarmingly" low oil pressure at idle when the engine is warm (AFN), since the gauge was installed. So far, no problems related to this.

Hello,

Regarding the oil pressure in a TDI engine, I can't say much, but when I compare these values to my rally car (a Jetta 1 GLI), they seem very familiar. The pressure is between 8 bar when cold and 1.5 to 5 bar when warm. Furthermore, the quality (age) and viscosity of the oil have a significant influence on the oil pressure. I once had a different type of oil in my car, and even at idle, the oil pressure light came on (indicating 0.25 bar). I think that was concerning; the rest seems to be normal.

For Volkswagen gasoline engines, there is a minimum oil pressure of 2 bar at an oil temperature of 80°C and an engine speed of 2000 RPM.

Best regards,
Bertil

Well... I have fresh 0W-40 oil in it, so it's probably normal.
