The following instructions from user Deus Violentia (thank you very much!) describe the repair of the PSG5 pump control unit for the Bosch VP44 injection pump.

The following error codes in the engine control unit of VAG vehicles indicate a malfunction of the pump control unit:
- Error code 01318 (J-399)
- Error code 0526

For functional testing and diagnostics in the vehicle, a OBD diagnostic system is recommended, preferably VCDS from Dieselschrauber.
