Hi.
'Until about a year ago, I mostly worked on older cars (roughly up to the G3 generation), and Volkswagen usually used a specific type of connector. I even bought a set of connectors and a release tool for those.'
'However, with the 2010 Scirocco, I didn't need to use a contact, and the situation isn't any better with the 2006 Touran...'
The question now is what are the names of these pins, and what unlocking tool is needed for them? I find the solution using the pre-crimped repair leads from VW to be quite unsatisfactory, as it still requires a connection with a solder joint.

The pins are also available for purchase individually, in various sizes. You don't necessarily have to use the pre-made connectors.

'At VW? If I don't use a parts number to find something, it won't work. He only finds the repair cable because AKTE 'gives it to him'.'
'Actually, I didn't really want to buy it from VW, but rather from a place like Herth+Buss or something similar.'

If you're already "feeding" him all this information, then when you're "chewing" through the electronics model, pay attention to the pages immediately before the individual wires. You'll find the individual contacts there as well. Compare the pictures and dimensions, and you'll have your contact.
If you can't find it yourself, then at least give us the part number of the individual cable. We'd also appreciate it if you could provide the corresponding dimensions.
Regards,
Guste.

Okay, I gave him the part number for the housing. Then, with a single click, AKTE (a parts catalog software) shows the corresponding repair cables. He then found them himself.
'I'm having trouble finding the pin. The cable attached to the connector has a marking of 000-979-242-e, and it's 2.5mm² in diameter. It's supposed to go into the electrical box in the engine compartment of a 2010 2.0L Scirocco.'

A good overview of connectors, repair cables, etc. is usually available at Passatplus.
However, it's possible that this plug is not included, as it might be a newer model.
