Hi,

Did the G5 models always only have one antenna?
- If not, where is the second one sometimes?
- If so, how did dual-band radios handle that?

My RCD510 is now installed in the ex-RNS300 G5 and only has one radio antenna connected.
It displays error codes instead of offering the convenience of a dual tuner.

And I would have liked it to be perfect icon_wink.gif.

PS: I think I'm going to get us that Polish sausage after all.

Check out Kufatec; they have cables for 2x Fakra to 1x, or vice versa; I have them installed.

Does the device use the second tuner only for silently checking alternative frequencies (RDS-AF), or is it true diversity? If that's the case, I wouldn't use a Y-adapter.

The principle behind antenna diversity is to have two independent antenna systems. The two tuners can then use so-called "virtual directional antennas," which increases sensitivity and separation, and also eliminates interference caused by multipath reception (reflections). In this case, the signal processing would be completely digital. For the system to function as intended, the two antennas should be physically separated. The second antenna does not necessarily have to be an external antenna. Combinations of roof and rear window heater antennas, or two antenna systems in both side mirrors, work particularly well for diversity. This is because the reception conditions are very different at the two antennas.

Looking at what's displayed in the developer view, it seems to be more related to RDS-AF.
One tunes an instrument to make music, while the other scans the frequency range and takes a look at world history.

Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

Does he simply connect an antenna to two connectors?
For 24 euros... wow.

PS: Okay, I'm going to do something right away, but it has to be removed immediately after.
And installing a radio in the G5 is a nightmare http://www.kufatec.de/shop/index.php?page=product&info=964; you always end up damaging the trim.

What is the exact model name of your radio? And which manufacturer is it? There were different suppliers.

In summary: The Y-adapter significantly reduces signal strength. It's probably best to use two antennas if the device is designed to support that. The secondary antenna could also likely be a temporary or makeshift solution.

No!

Rear right disc (thin wires) on the Variant model.
I am not yet aware of when and where the "standard" Golf model, without the third row of seats, has a second antenna.

Yes, that's right.
For the RNSxxx models, this feature also provides TMC coverage for the navigation system.

with xxx != 300
Because the RNS300 that just came out only has one antenna input.

I first replaced the stub antenna with the correct antenna.
I haven't quite figured out the exact differences between the various versions of the "Polowurst" sausage yet.
Why should the FM antenna be different if there's a GSM/GPS antenna located in the base?

Thank you for the tip.

However, they also talk about "retrofitting"... and since we usually listen to music from the SD card, it will probably stay that way (we'll have to).
