You could try looking for a voltage regulator (if there is one) on the circuit board, find it, and replace it as a precaution. That would be the most cost-effective solution.
Otherwise, it looks like there's a processor error, as the LCD is also no longer being controlled correctly. Replacing it is difficult, but possible with the right equipment (an SMD hot air rework station).
