Hello, has anyone experienced a connecting rod bearing failure, specifically at the upper connecting rod bearing, on a 1.9L PD engine (specifically with the ARL engine code)?
I suspect that the injector nozzle of cylinder 4 may have been injecting too much fuel or dripping excessively, and that the area exposed to combustion pressure has crumbled due to material fatigue, likely because it was subjected to excessive pressure for an extended period.
Cylinder 1 and 2 show a perfect printing pattern, while cylinder 3 also appears to have a lot of pressure, but it is still acceptable.
Anecdote aside: A larger piece of material fell from the storage area and knocked out a tooth on the crankshaft position sensor rotor. As a result, the control unit detected an "implausible signal G28" and shut down. The speed display on the propeller speed indicator (reduction ratio 24:43) shows 9144 min-1, which would be 16,383 min-1. That's quite fast for a diesel!
