The amount of information and the independence of broadcasters have decreased significantly, and Bluetooth and USB are now responsible for providing cool music.

NDR and NLM in Lower Saxony have never shown interest in digital radio. Besides the nationwide channel 5C, there is no added value with digital radio – quite the opposite, not even the local FM broadcasts are digitally receivable. In addition, there are still large areas without coverage – and this situation is unlikely to change with last week's decision. If any new DAB+ transmitters are added, it will likely only be for the nationwide channel 5C.

Compare it to the program offerings in Bavaria or Berlin – here, for example, you can receive a large number of additional channels digitally. Even the private broadcasters have joined in, and currently, 69 digital radio programs can be received in Berlin.

I believe it's wrong to rely solely on web radio. If everyone uses it, and if some traditional television viewers also switch over, then mobile network cells will not only be overloaded but completely unusable. For me, radio is still a medium for being on the go or everywhere. At home, I can still use the ARD radio transponder 93 on Astra, but that's impossible when I'm out and about. However, transponder 93 must be cleared by 2021, and it's questionable whether we will ever get such a comprehensive range of radio programs via satellite again. There are efforts to cut costs and only broadcast the programs via satellite that are needed for signal distribution.
