Hello,
Is there a kind of interface at VAG that allows the central locking system to be electrically controlled?
Comparable to pressing the "Open" and "Close" buttons on a remote control.
Does anyone have an idea on how to implement this easily and in a way that works across different models?

Hi,
Insert an additional electronic "button" parallel to the existing buttons for "vehicle on" / "vehicle off". I did that in the initial solution to prevent the "door open" beeping on the A4 8K by adjusting the switch on the door lock.
Perhaps we should also consider actuator diagnostics?

Can we guess the reason?
I assume you were traveling by bus to a campsite and want to add an extra button in the rear area for central locking and unlocking. Correct?
If so: Is it located in the door? If so, it might be possible using the door control module. Some Passat 3C owners have reportedly installed a similar button in the passenger-side door. However, it's likely already pre-wired for right-hand drive vehicles. It would be interesting to know if the rear door control unit also offers a suitable input and corresponding software for it.
Furthermore, it's important to consider whether the intention is to bypass the "safe" function. In higher-end vehicles, when locked remotely, the interior door handles and the trunk release button are deactivated (this is the "safe" function) to make it more difficult for thieves. In that case, the button wouldn't have any effect on the back either.
Depending on the equipment, the driver's door usually has a mechanical lock with contacts. It's possible to configure in VCDS whether these contacts should deactivate the alarm system (or was it the central locking?). So, this approach might still be possible. Since that's probably the usual entry point for burglars (those who don't just smash a window), I wouldn't necessarily code it that way.
I find it difficult to imagine incorporating CAN/LIN technology, as it would completely contradict the principles of anti-theft protection. I'm definitely not an expert in that area, though.
Regards,
Guste. |

Hello.
Thank you for the suggestions! However, after some time, the key in the door doesn't help to unlock it... too bad.

The simplest, most flexible, and probably even the cheapest option will be to buy a replacement remote control and program it.
If the appearance is not important, it can be directly glued to any surface. Alternatively, you can disassemble the control panel and connect an external double button to it. |
