A tip from forum member garth.brooks
Install a cost-effective line filter from the accessories trade in the inlet line from the tank to the filter.
It catches larger dirt from the tank, so that the expensive

(main) diesel filter only has to deal with fine particles that the line filter allows through.
This significantly reduces the clogging of the main filter, so that it can, with some luck, remain in use for several times the usual intervals in the vehicle.
In case of doubt, when selecting a filter for a 8mm inner diameter hose, choose the largest size to achieve the greatest filter surface area, resulting in minimal pressure loss and longer filter lifespan.
Clear or semi-transparent enclosures make it easier to see how much dirt the filter has collected and when it needs to be replaced.
