Hi.
We have all cleaned our intake manifolds and made sure that no one will make them dirty again .
Nobody dares to verschandeln the ear canals because otherwise, the saliva would flow inwards.
The 1Z operates normally with a maximum of 30 Kelvin higher charge air temperature than the ambient air temperature.
The ASZ (ulf) is significantly higher.
So, the engines won't just suddenly fail if you expose them to slightly warmer air.
Here's my idea:
"I temporarily close the external air intake of the EGR cooler so that the tractor gets slightly warmer air, and the carbon buildup in the EGR system dissolves and is burned off gradually – because only the cleanest air (okay, with a lot of oil in my case) is entering."
It could freely flush the channels, couldn't it?
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork

During my attempt, I at least managed to break off the front edges. I was more worried about something coming loose and falling in than something actually falling in. After all, those edges do create a significant obstacle to the airflow. So, I went ahead armed with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a nozzle. Using a mirror, I could clearly see if anything was coming loose or falling in. The vacuum nozzle was also small enough to fit into the intake channel so that I could potentially suck up any loose pieces. However, I didn't verschandeln it perfectly; it wasn't really sparkling.

Okay, so "falling" is not an option for me. Because this stuff is seriously "juicy."
My turbo seems to be afraid that something might rust, so it's oiling everything very diligently into every (( .
Consequently, the EGR sludge in my car is as slippery as jam.
I will wipe the edges with my finger – this stuff sticks quite well to the fingers.
The edges must be verschandeln on their own because otherwise, when you start applying the sealant, you risk contaminating it, which could prevent it from sealing properly.
WUTZ: Does your strut have U-washers under the screws? If so, are they securely attached to the screws? How big are the U-washers (15mm???).
What kind of engine do you have?
VW is still unable to provide me with the correct windshields – according to their system, they don't fit!

I also had the smaller gaskets, and I actually thought they were a good fit. I have the ALH engine in mine. The screws in mine look and are constructed very similarly to yours.
"For your stripped screw, I would simply cut off the head and enlarge the hole in the washer slightly by drilling or filing it so that it fits over the threads of the new screw. Alternatively, you could even cut a new thread, which would result in the smallest change in diameter. I think VW designed it this way partly to ensure the mechanic doesn't forget the washer and also to prevent it from falling off during assembly."
May success be with you.
I'm not sure what you mean by "wutz." Could you please clarify your request? VW Golf V, 1,9 TDI, 77KW, BLS, 2007;

"Saving the old U-boats" sounds good.
Since I already have all six screws new, I will definitely use the new ones.
I'm still not sure about the brake discs – I got 16-inch discs from VW for free, but they are only slightly too large. In this case, it would just require filing down one side.
Does the general public have an opinion on my idea?

Hello Martin,
Just do what causes you the least worry.
If there's no way to bevel the new, freshly ground U-shaped pieces, then it's actually easier than trying to salvage the old ones. Because first you have to cut off the heads, and then drill out the inner hole, which takes a lot more work.
Otherwise, RESPECT!!! Soon you'll have an almost completely overhauled engine.
If you're already doing that, why not replace the head gasket at the same time?
Based on your very beautiful photos, it seems like some oil is coming out of it.
I'm constantly amazed at how well your pictures turn out. It's like the engine is right there, because there really isn't much space between the body and the engine block.
Keep up the good work...
Best regards, Georg.

Hi Georg,
"MOEL from the cylinder head gasket??? Where??? I've only seen one from the valve cover gasket... and that one isn't replaced until the timing belt is done."
Can you give me an example?
The pictures were all taken with my Sony DSC-U20 camera. It's very small and has a (full-frame equivalent) 33mm lens, which is quite wide-angle.
In addition, it has 2 megapixels (the network images are reduced to 50%).

Hi there,
It has already been reported here that after the EGR system fails, the intake manifold cleans itself because the dirt gradually moves away with the airflow and no new dirt enters.
Otherwise, I would suggest directing compressed air into the cylinder through the spark plug opening and then cleaning out the channel. Anything that comes loose will be blown out immediately (provided the valves are in the correct position).
Greetings.
Eike.

Hi Martin,
http://www.luxus-wg.de/~martin/auto_bilder/Kruemmer/
Images: Head1, Head2, Head3.
It looks to me like the oil isn't just coming from the top, but also being pushed out through the head gasket.
If I'm wrong, then all the better.
In that case, I take everything back and claim the opposite.
In that sense...
Best regards, Georg.

Hmm, that might be possible.
But for now, I've had enough of tinkering – the head stays on!
The renewal (of my driver's license) is coming up soon, so I can take another look then...
The only place where there's redundant work is with the four screws on the turbocharger exhaust pipe.

Ah, in picture number 3, you can still see something beautiful.
I've always wondered what a glow plug heater for coolant looks like.
Furthermore, I now know that the drain plugs, especially in my longitudinally mounted 1Z engine, are likely difficult to access (for installing Calix engine heaters). 1993 Audi 80 B4 1Z

@ wolfi
I was just thinking about those space heaters that use glowing coils.
You can access the frost plugs on the Quer-1Z from the side, but they are reasonably accessible from below if you remove the soundproofing cover.

Hello Martin!
Why put off replacing the valve cover gasket? Do it at the same time and you'll have a really reliable way to verschandeln your intake ports. Remove the valve cover and crank the engine. You can then see which intake valves are closed at any given moment. You can safely verschandeln these channels, then use brake cleaner and compressed air to blow everything out – nothing can go wrong. And then just keep turning the engine until you've cleaned all the channels...
Best regards,
Dominique.
