Zero offset adjustment of the steering angle sensor G 85 for Bosch ABS version 5.3.
ATTENTION: Since this procedure may involve modifying parameters that are critical for safety, it should only be performed by individuals with the appropriate expertise or experience.
A diagnostic system, such as VCDS, is necessary.
The zero offset of the steering angle sensor G85 needs to be adjusted if:
- after expanding the steering wheel.
- the control unit J104, the steering angle sensor G85, or the steering column needs to be replaced.
- after coding the J104 control unit.
- During a wheel alignment, adjustments to the suspension may be made.
You are instructed, based on an error entry in the control unit's error memory (J 104), to perform the zero offset calibration, as indicated in the error table.
The zero offset of the steering angle sensor G85 must be adjusted with an accuracy of ± 5 degrees.
Procedure:
- Start the vehicle.
- Turn the steering wheel one full rotation to the right and one full rotation to the left.
- Perform a short test drive on a flat surface (straight ahead and not faster than 20 km/h).
- During the test drive, ensure the steering wheel is straight, and bring the vehicle to a stop while it is traveling in a straight line. Do not turn off the engine.
- Establish connection with the ABS control unit.
- Login with code 40168.
- Initiate basic settings (using the "Basic Settings" function), select channel 001.
If you see the message "*Function is unknown or cannot be executed successfully*", the login procedure has failed.
If the message "*System reset: Steering sensor alignment locked*" appears, it means that the steering wheel was not turned left or right before starting the procedure.
If the display shows "*System in Grundeinstellung 1 Calibration of Steering Sensors OK*", then the calibration has been successfully completed. Tschüss
