hi!
'Today, I used VAGCOM for the first time to measure the injection start. Since I installed larger injectors, I wanted to check it. I noticed that in measurement group 000, field 2 shows '31' and field 9 shows '125,' which indicates an extremely early injection start. It's right at the bottom limit; is that okay? I searched for an adjustment option using VAGCOM, but I'm not familiar with the program, and besides, it's in English. There's a button labeled 'TDI timing,' which shows a diagram, and I think it said at the bottom that the fuel is too cold (in the English version). The temperature display showed 90°C, and the outside temperature was about -1°C. I don't want to adjust anything I don't understand.'Can I leave the injection start timing as it is, or do I need to adjust it? If so, how? And how is that done with VAG-COM? I looked at the instructions from 'rainer k.' in the troubleshooting and instructions section, but I didn't really understand them. I'm definitely not brave enough to try adjusting it mechanically.
Thank you for your help.
look, chris.

Hello,

If your values (2.9, MWB0) were measured in the default settings mode, that is acceptable.
See diagram.
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.

Adjusting via VAG-COM: This is a setting (!).
As long as the mechanical linkage in operation does not reach a limit, you don't need to adjust anything. icon_smile.gif

Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

hi
Thank you for your reply. Now let's talk about the mechanical adjustment. That's the part I didn't quite understand. Where are the two measurement points for the adjuster? And if I have a maximum of 13V at idle or partial load, and 0V at full load, then I don't need to adjust anything, right? Have I understood that correctly? If it were misadjusted, I would have, for example, 6V at idle or 5V at full load, etc. If that were the case, it would be a job for the Bosch service. I'm not going to touch my timing belt (I have to, though!), it's too important to me, I don't have enough experience (unfortunately, I don't have a spare engine in the basement). Can the Bosch service adjust this precisely, or is it just a rough estimate done there as well? And while I'm asking, what does 'bewir' mean?'If the injection start is very early, is that good or bad? I've read that because I have the 216 injectors installed, it should be slightly advanced anyway. So, would it fit?' Sorry for the many questions.
Okay, Chris. Thanks.

Not quite, the voltages would then be shifted just as much as the start of the injection.
So, 6V at idle would theoretically mean -6V at full throttle (6 - 12 = -6).
Of course, it's a simplified calculation, and in reality, you can't have less than 0V, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to convey.
With 6V at idle, the static injection start would be too late, and at full throttle, it might not be possible to adjust it sufficiently towards an earlier timing.
You would need to rotate the pump earlier or adjust the position of the pump's pulley (there are two possible methods, depending on the type, engine code, etc.).

I've read that since I have the 216 injectors, it should be advanced somewhat anyway. If that's the case, it would make sense. Sorry for the many questions.
thank you, look chris

Of course, you can adjust it very precisely, as there is a basic settings mode for that.
As long as you're not experiencing any starting problems with the .216 nozzles, I wouldn't adjust anything.

Best regards, Rainer.

hi
Okay, here I am again. Everything's clear. I want to check this setting. Where can I find the fuel injection control? I think it's on the 8-pin connector of the ESP, but which pin? Also, I read in the forum that too early fuel injection can cause excessively high injection pressures. Since my injectors already have slightly higher pressures, that wouldn't be good, would it?
look, chris.

Hello, as Rainer mentioned, if the engine is running well, leave everything as it is.

Okay, then I'll save myself the trouble and leave it as it is. Thanks for your replies.
