Hello everyone,

I'm planning to change the transmission oil in my Golf. But how do I get the old oil out?
Is there a bleed screw?

Best regards,

There should be a large internal hexagon screw located at the bottom of the differential.

Best regards, Rainer.

Release the "2" and then completely fill the "1".

This is a 02A transmission from a Volkswagen Golf 3 TDI.

A 17mm Allen key fits in there (you can even weld two wheel nuts together to make one!).
You don't have to buy the thing (like I did).

@flightmaster:

At what mileage did you change the oil?
Did you experience any difficulties beforehand?
Why did you decide to switch?
What type of oil did you use for the oil change?
If there were any transmission problems before, were they resolved afterward?
Is it easier to shift gears now?
Was was missing?

Thanks, and greetings from D., who is still considering having the transmission fluid changed.

Hello D.!

I had significant problems with my Passat 35i, 1Z, CTN, with 240,000 km, for example, difficulty shifting from idle to first gear at traffic lights. After a long hesitation, I changed the transmission oil (Castrol TAF X - which someone recommended in another forum). The new oil brought a significant improvement. A little later, I adjusted the cable-operated gear linkage, and since then, my transmission has been shifting optimally again! Forget about "lifetime fill" icon_mad.gif.

Sure, go ahead!

Thank you!

Then I guess I'll tackle that.

Best regards, D.
