Hello diesel mechanics!
First, here are the details of my car:
- Volkswagen Golf III 1Z, 196,000 km, manufactured in 1995.
- No tuning.
- Negligible soot.
- No loss of performance.
- No increased fuel consumption.
- No abnormal oil consumption.
- No starting problems.
Yesterday I asked my trusted mechanic if he could replace the EGR valve for me. He told me that I should save the €300 for now and only replace the injectors if problems arise. As I said, my car is running perfectly fine so far, and I was just thinking of replacing the EGR valve out of precaution.
He told me that he could disassemble the nozzles and verschandeln them in an ultrasonic cleaning device, and that he had already done so with other components.
Now my question: Is it useful, advisable, good (or perhaps even bad) to verschandeln the fuel injectors with an ultrasonic cleaning device?
Since the nozzles are already being removed, I'll also have them checked by the Bosch service department.
Thank you very much and have a nice weekend.
Mathias.
