Hello,

During a test drive of a Golf 5 with a 90 hp TDI engine, I became aware of this power output level, which was previously considered obsolete for new cars.

And lo and behold, the technical data for the Golf on the VW website lists the following key specifications: 1.9 liters, 66 kW at 4000 rpm, 210 Nm at 1800 rpm, and EU4 standard – but unfortunately, it doesn't provide any information about the injection system.

Does anyone here know if this is a more advanced version of the ALH engine, or a detuned version of the AXR engine?

By the way, the SDI engine in the G 5 is now also a 2-liter with 75 horsepower.
Gruß Ulf

Hi,

which raises the question of what purpose such a fine gradation serves, since the difference to the 100 hp AXR engine is really quite small. Or is this a preparation for the next conversion according to the scheme "<100> 1.9" and ">100 hp -> 2.0"?

Best regards,

January.

Okay, here are some facts. I've done a little research about the differences between the 90 hp and 105 hp TDI engines.

Based on my current knowledge, both models have the same engine block, the same direct injection components, the same turbocharger, the same camshaft, etc.
So far, I've noticed one difference: the exhaust system has a diameter that is 5mm larger, going from 50mm to 55mm. However, this difference is likely minimal and probably only due to different software being used.

I don't know what MKB is.

Best regards,
Crunch.

And one more thing:

Thank you for all the answers (especially to @MampfViewing profile: Mampf for the collection of quotes icon_smile.gif).

By the way, I don't have any specific plans for that engine; it was just pure curiosity...
