Hi.
I logged the boost pressure for the first time, and it was at 10 Ct on the ESP.
It is increasing much faster and more strongly than usual.
Do you still find this acceptable, or is it already too critical?
Since I still have an AF pressure sensor on the 1Z, aren't the values above 2000 mbar just fabricated, because it can only measure up to 2 bar?

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

It looks exactly like that for me, as I reported previously.
Since I found a 1Z model while browsing using the search function, and it operates at 1.1 bar with an overpressure up to 1.3 bar, I'll just accept the "small" overpressure values.

Hi Martin,
'In my 1Z, the setpoint is above your overshoot values (for about 90,000 km).'
I wouldn't worry about it.
It's been a while since I had an AF on the workbench, but I'm pretty sure it has the 2.5 bar sensor, just like the MSA15.
Best regards, Rudi.

How can the boost pressure be increased on a 1Z engine, and what is the original boost pressure?
at the bar?
I want to give my 1z a little more breathing room.
best regards, chris

Hi Chris,
"Originally, the pressure was 0.9 bar above atmospheric pressure - so, according to VAGCOM, it's approximately 1900 mbar, depending on the external pressure."
Increasing the boost pressure won't achieve anything except for a turbocharger that dies prematurely, unless you make other changes.
Even with 10 ct. of timing advance, there's still enough boost (excess air) to provide a noticeable performance increase WITHOUT significantly increasing soot production.

Since I still have an AF STG on the 1Z, the values above 2000 mbar are probably fabricated anyway, because it can only measure up to 2 bar, right?
No, the values are not fabricated. The sensor measures with, for example, a 1% deviation up to 2000 mbar, but above 2000 mbar, the deviation becomes, for example, 10% (these numbers are just for explanation).
Therefore, the manufacturer specifies a maximum pressure of 2000 mbar, and exceeding this pressure may damage the sensor. However, in reality, it can withstand more than 2000 mbar.
Best regards.

My old 1Z engine had pressure surges up to approximately 1.4 bar, according to the LDA (Lambda-indicated pressure). After replacing the solenoid valve, these significant pressure surges were reduced. I'm not 100% sure of the exact numbers, but I believe they were then closer to 1.1-1.2 bar.
The overshoots are not very well observed in VAGCOM anyway, but I have also experienced that with 10ct, the overshoots on the manual LDA increase slightly.
The boost pressure on the 1Z engine can only be changed by either a new chip or a resistor (I don't remember exactly where it needs to be connected, I'd have to check). Otherwise, it's fixed. It might be possible to temporarily increase the boost pressure through adaptation, but this will definitely not be saved.
Otherwise, increasing the turbocharger pressure only has a beneficial effect when combined with increased diesel injection.
Um den Lader würde ich mir nicht sooo viele Gedanken machen. Die starren Lader sind wohl wesentlich robuster als die VTG Lader und sollen wohl ohne Probs bis zu 1.3bar vertragen, laut div. Statements.
I recently met someone who owns a 1Z engine and claims to have driven it for about 100,000 km with 1.3 bar of boost, 120 horsepower, and approximately 300 Nm of torque. VW Golf III TDI Avenue, MKB 1Z, EZ96

That would be the first thing I hear. As far as I know, for normal operation, it can only be done via CT (Current Transformer) or a sensor spoof. Gruß Ulf

'Hmm, yes, I think you're right that the pressure vessel can be safely inflated to 1.3 or 1.5 bar.'
'On my G60 Corrado, I also had a 68-tooth impeller wheel, and everyone always said that that wheel wasn't good for the turbocharger.'
New charger on eBay for 150 euros, and it's good.
If something happens.
I've also heard about that chip.
and this resistance of 27 ohms.
'But I think a chip is better; it's simpler than this small SMD resistor.'
I think that information might be in the 10-cent item listing.
Best regards, Chris.
thinking approach
10cent, fully tuned, increased boost pressure, resulting in 120 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It goes like a rocket.
Cost: practically zero (well, almost zero, except for the chip which costs 10 euros on eBay).

I've been reading repeatedly about '10 ct performance increase,' but what exactly does that mean?
