Audi A3 1.9 TDI Starting Problems - 1998

Hi,

The AHF (presumably a piece of equipment) starts up very poorly, sometimes making a noise for 5-8 seconds, even when it's warm.

For example, a small air bubble was noticed in the transparent tube.
When starting, it moves about 1 cm towards the pump, and then it stays in that position until the engine finally starts.
It's probably the pump that's broken, right?

Are there any suggestions before replacing the pump?
The vehicle has a manual transmission, no air conditioning, and no other accessories are activated.

Do you have any error codes? If the quantity sensor is showing an error, you can replace the fuel pump, or you can have it repaired by a Bosch service center (which is cheaper than buying a new one).

Check if the control valve is being activated during the whining noise. It might be an electrical problem.

Is the stop button being activated?
When starting, power must be supplied to the charging station, and as soon as the motor stops, the power is cut off? Is that correct?

'There are many possible causes for your problem, such as temperature sensors, faulty fuel injectors, or a bad battery. I even once had a case where the starter motor was defective, and the starting speed was too low for the engine control unit (ECU) to start calculating. I have the same engine, and it doesn't start very well either. Also, I feel like it's lacking some torque in the lower RPM range (1200-1800 RPM) compared to other cars. Although I have a pretty good chip from Motorsport Schmid (it really performs well above 2000 RPM). If any of us finds a solution, we should definitely get back to each other, right?'
