Hello,
Here's what's been done to my Seat Leon ASV (1.9 TDI): It's been chipped several times.
occurred.
After starting the cold engine and letting it run for about 1 minute...
I left the engine running, and when I started to drive away, a blue cloud appeared.
Noticed. No smoke when the engine is warm.
The car now has 60,000 km on the odometer (only highway miles). It has been tuned since approximately 35,000 km, and has been driven for 45,000 km using Castrol GTX3 15W-40, followed by Castrol GTX7 5W-40.
Is the oil perhaps too thin? I read something like that in the error database.
Should I then use RS 10W-60 oil, even though it doesn't have the VW standard?
Does anyone have experience using Castrol RS 10W-60 oil in a TDI engine?
Thank you.

'When you're smoking, are you spilling oil from the loader? What's your oil consumption like?'
When it comes to motor oils, the most important thing is that they have VW approval. You should definitely be cautious with Castrol oils!!!

Hello,
Oil consumption is approximately 0.5 liters per 15,000 km, which is within the normal range.
Why should caution be exercised when using Castrol oils?
What's better?

Hello. The TH (Technische Hochschule) in Darmstadt once tested motor oils for carbon buildup. Mobil 1 and Shell TMO (this was a while ago) performed well (carbon buildup only occurred above 260 degrees Celsius). Castrol RS and GTX were very poor (carbon buildup occurred at 160 degrees Celsius). Back then, many turbochargers failed. Even if the turbocharger smokes briefly after starting, it can still last a very long time.

Hi,
I had observed similar things with my old Golf 3 TDI after it had reached a high mileage, approximately 130,000 km. The oil consumption was also acceptable.
At the time, I had the idea that perhaps some diesel fuel had dripped onto the pistons overnight through one of the injectors, and then, once the engine started and the pistons got hot, it caused the smoking.
In my opinion, the turbocharger is not a viable option because it doesn't heat up as quickly as a naturally aspirated engine when the engine is cold and idling.
Regards,
Eike.
