'Over the last few thousand kilometers, I've been driving very economically, meaning I've been shifting gears early and keeping my speed to a maximum of 130 km/h (see my profile). Today, I shifted gears more frequently, and the engine revs smoothly and quickly, and it also has a slightly higher top speed than before.'
Could my driving style be related to this, such that less soot formation might result in fewer deposits? I don't think this is purely a subjective feeling.

Hello,
Soot deposits are particularly common when driving in a way that is considered 'too economical.'
From time to time, a diesel engine should also be allowed to 'work hard.'
If I drive 'gently' for 14 days and then get on the highway with a warm engine, I already get a significant amount of black smoke when I accelerate for the first time!
Best regards,
Günther.

Hi.

I think there's a lot of subjectivity involved in that!

In December, I drove 5000 km (on highways in Spain and France) - always driving peacefully with the cruise control. At the toll booths, I thought to myself that the car must suddenly have 150 horsepower.
(because it accelerates quite well up to 120 km/h).

Now that I'm finally here in Germany, I've only flown a few times, and I had the feeling that the car wasn't performing as well (the acceleration from 100-120 km/h is definitely stronger than from 160-180 km/h).

I have also often felt, after driving 150 km home at night, that it icon_evil.gif performs quite well. At night, I usually drive very comfortably because no one on the highway "annoys" me } (by driving around me at +/- 1 km/h - this overtaking and re-overtaking when you use cruise control }).

Once, I got that "awesome sports car" feeling and immediately took it to my test track - and lo and behold, it was objectively as slow as ever (of course, it was loaded), even though I had sworn to myself that it was performing really well just now.

... there was another T.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

'With a more fuel-efficient driving style, less soot is produced. However, this soot tends to accumulate in the exhaust system due to lower exhaust gas velocities. When the engine is driven more aggressively, of course, more soot is expelled than usual.'

Hi,

Before we start arguing about 'more' or 'less' again: What exactly do we mean by 'more' or 'less'? Are we talking about per piston stroke, per unit of time, or per kilometer?
Please be specific about what you mean, otherwise everyone will just keep talking past each other.

Regards,
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'Micha'
