Sporadic engine failure 1Z

Hello TDI enthusiast community,

I have the following problem:

"In my Golf III TDI (engine code: 1Z, manufactured in August 1994, 372,000 km), the engine occasionally stalls while driving. However, in most cases, it can be restarted without any problems after a short period of time." Reading the error memory (even when there are no errors) and replacing the known relay 109 have not been able to solve my problem so far.

Perhaps some of you have already experienced this problem with your vehicle.
I would be grateful for any advice.

Occasionally, older vehicles may exhibit instability around the 109 component, which can cause effects similar to those of a faulty relay.

I would start by connecting a temporary indicator LED to the output of the 109 and observing whether it continues to light up after the motor shuts off, or not.

Subsequently, the further search will be guided by this.

For me, it was a faulty DWA (wireless door communication system). The problem was caused by cold solder joints on the relays. After soldering it, everything was quiet.
