Hi everyone.
I came across these pages because I'm currently working on restoring a 1.9 TDI AFN engine from a Golf3. The plan is to install it in my T4 to replace the old, reliable mechanical 5-cylinder diesel. I recently had the old AAB engine rebuilt, but since we want to be able to tow trailers and still have good performance, I decided to go with this conversion. The engine was practically right outside my door, and it fits the existing transmission. The original 5-cylinder combinations from the T4 are simply too expensive for me, and I didn't want to have to do a lot of bodywork and other modifications just to swap in a different TDI engine.
Otherwise, I've been working on VWs and trucks from the older era for many years.
Looking forward to a wonderful time together.
Best regards,
maffi
