Yes, the 5-series also has the VP37. So, would that be possible without any issues? How would it change in terms of performance? What else would I need to change? Or would I just need to change the injectors and that would be enough?

Okay, thank you very much. That could also explain why it's starting to produce more black smoke. I've disabled the EGR valve, and the turbo seems to be in good condition. The oil consumption is excellent (0.5L every 15,000 km). The timing belt is new, including everything that goes with it. Therefore, I think my fuel injectors are probably starting to fail.
