Hello, we just received a shipment of "Xenon Prisma Power Plus" lamps, which are filled with xenon gas.
Twin pack, supposedly with a lifespan comparable to long-life or high-definition bulbs. I'm testing them out... They are supposed to have a bluish-white light color similar to xenon.
Looking for test candidates who will also perform this task diligently.

Me?! icon_rolleyes.gif Can you also get a pair of H1 bulbs to go with a pair of H7s? And how much will the test run cost me??

I would like to see a photo of a lamp taken with a flash (not an LED flash from a camera!), showing the unpacked lamp placed on a sheet of bright white copier or printing paper. This way, I can get an idea of its construction and the thickness of the glass shade. I also saw that you mentioned wanting to install one in your car.

By the way, I need to contact you again regarding part requests. However, I will do that via email.

In a very recent Touran (with license plate starting with "BD"), I noticed that the glass bulbs of the fog light lamps are brownish in color. They emit a strong yellowish light, but it's still quite bright. However, the color doesn't resemble that of all-weather lamps, which have their characteristic yellow hue.

Is that intentional, and if so, what kind of lighting technology is it?

The current Golf 1.4 Trendline models in the company car fleet, which also use H7 headlights, have a similar light color. I've already driven one in the dark, and its light output isn't particularly impressive either. Plus, the light color is somewhat unusually yellowish-white.

If I recall correctly, the original H7 bulbs in the Ibiza (Edit: the one I sold, a 6K GP01 ALH) lasted for about 5 years / 65,000 km and then both failed within a few months. I replaced the first ones (a generic brand) this morning after about 1 year of use / 18,000 km - again with another generic brand from my stock that I bought during a special offer. . .
Now, in the ASZ Polo, the first original H7 bulb has also broken, after practically the same mileage.
However, approximately 3/4 of the Polo's mileage is attributed to me, and I tend to only use the lights at night, while my partner also turns on the lights during the day in cloudy weather.
The headlights on the 6K Ibiza were always original equipment, meaning they likely had significantly more operating hours before failing at around 65,000 km compared to the ones in the Polo.

The Polo will receive standard Osram bulbs as replacements because changing the lamps without removing the battery or other components is difficult and requires hands that are larger than those of a small child. icon_evil.gif

Eventually, the remaining NoName parts will end up on a 6L car, where changing the lights is significantly easier, even considering the climate control system.

As a consistent and dedicated cyclist who rides in all weather conditions, I feel compelled to chime in here:

My forest ranger actually ate an H7 bulb. And that's at around 48,000 km. That's actually fine for the continuous lighting function. Of course, with my annual mileage, that means a replacement interval of 2 years, but even that is perfectly acceptable.

At the forestry station, the lights are only turned off during inspections in the workshop. I personally have only switched off the light switch myself one or two times in the past two years. This means that even when starting up, the BNSTG system automatically turns the lights on and off.

Maybe also because the gasoline engine uses bulbs with less vibration than an ASZ, which rarely revs above 1700 rpm...

Here's a picture of the broken OEM Osram headlight bulb from the Polo.
If you like, feel free to offer suggestions as to whether it's more likely a "voltage surge" or vibration damage icon_wink.gif.

As someone who drives frequently and uses both daytime and nighttime lights, the standard H7 bulbs typically lasted around 10,000 to 12,000 kilometers. With the day and night lamps, I was able to achieve approximately three times the lifespan.
If I buy pears today, I make sure they are at least "longlife" pears, which have approximately double the shelf life (although I don't know the exact figure because I no longer write it down).

Best regards,
Jörg

I also attribute it to less vibration... Of course, boxers and gasoline engines. Vibrations are almost a foreign concept.
"But the front of my Förster light is made of metal, unlike the Auweh models which have a plastic housing. It seems to vibrate less as a result. Since I reinforced the plastic front section of my G4 with supports, it barely burns through H7 bulbs anymore."
I always use the OE bulbs from Hella. They are affordable and good quality.

@ ulf: The lamp shown in the picture has burned out. Due to use, the filament had degraded so much that the detached piece only needed a minimal nudge to fall out. There are always specialists who, after refilling the windshield washer fluid, turn on the lights for a function check and then slam the hood shut with a loud crash. It's strange, because just now the light was still working?! icon_evil.gif

"Your headlight looks very dim. That suggests it should have been working for quite a while. In my opinion, H7 bulbs also tend to lose brightness more quickly than average. I never noticed that as much with H4 bulbs. Over the summer, I used up my remaining stock of old headlights in my 206; some of them only lasted a few months. But I only had a period of about 5 weeks in the height of summer when the lights were barely usable in the morning. Otherwise, I don't see why I would need to drive with the lights on during daylight. And even those not-so-bright old headlights were sufficient for being seen in the mornings or in rainy weather."

Currently, I am using the yellow light bulbs again, which were also used last winter. Despite the absolutely no risk of dazzling oncoming vehicles, I am repeatedly greeted with wild flashing of the headlights or constant high beams, and I have to respond with twice 100W white halogen lights. Why? icon_rolleyes.gif

Bratz! Today, the second of my yellow light bulbs failed within a week. One went out on Monday, and the other (of the same age) just now. What timing! Now I have to get back to work right away; you need some light when working on a vehicle.

While testing with checks, I discovered that I only have one set of tested Philips EcoVision bulbs left. They weren't particularly bright or dark; they just emitted light. I used up my accumulated stock last year, and some of them lasted only three weeks. However, they were all very old and didn't look very good anymore. Hopefully, the opportunity will arise again soon to acquire Tesla-branded Osram bulbs from the foundation...

On the other hand, theoretically, even some standard, inexpensive material might suffice; it's actually bright enough. I would also be interested in trying a product marketed as "long-lasting," provided it isn't too dark.
