Hello, I'm currently looking for new fuel injectors and glow plugs for my Golf. When I inquired at an accessory store, I almost had a heart attack. Glow plugs are about €160 and fuel injectors are about €450 . Are these standard prices, or is the store overpriced? I don't have much experience with this because I usually only work on my own car, and until now (180,000 km), it hasn't needed any major replacement parts. I also saw glow plugs for €38 on eBay.
Are they also input/output (IO)?
Thank you for any response.
Regards,
Maik.

It's indeed quite expensive! I recently installed new Bosch AT injectors in my 1Z, and they cost around €360 or €380. I think you can get the glow plugs from dieselsend.de for around €40 per set! Otherwise, at 'teileschieber,' the glow plugs are around €50-€60.

Hey Maik,
I also bought those candles. I contacted him because he was offering sets of 4 on eBay, but I needed 5. He then sold them to me directly, without using eBay, but at the same price as listed on eBay.
I then paid €50.13 including shipping. A Bosch service center in Bielefeld wanted €98 for the five spark plugs.
Best regards from Bielefeld.
Peter.

Hello Maik!
I had the glow plugs replaced at a VAG dealership earlier this year for my VW Golf (1Z).
He charged €120 for it (including VAT and labor costs), so that's acceptable.
Best regards, D.

I somehow can't understand why one should replace all the ??glow plugs at once - after all, they are not wear items - especially not in a TDI!
You can first measure the current draw, locate the faulty glow plug, and then just replace that one – it's much cheaper that way.
Furthermore, these should be tightened with the correct torque; otherwise, they will likely come loose again (resulting in a gap).
On my (former) Golf, one spark plug lasted 30,000 km, the others lasted 180,000 km, and I still didn't have any starting problems.

Well...
When I read the mileage displayed on D.'s car's instrument cluster, it shows 212,000 kilometers (approximately 132,000 miles).
'In that case, I would replace all four spark plugs at once, so I only have to deal with it once and not four times a year...'
For my ALH, that might still work, but when I look at the older TDs ,
But those things are really expensive.

Hi Gremlin!
I had the glow plugs replaced because of starting problems. However, it turned out that they weren't the problem after all; it was the temperature sensor.
The spark plugs might have lasted a little longer.
I believe 'DocSnydor' had a mileage of 260,000 kilometers.
But the fuel injectors in my car are still the original ones!
Best regards, D.

No, you. I've only got 215,000 km on it right now. It must have been someone else. I don't want to have to replace the belt again in just 10,000 km .
But I still have the first candles and nozzles in place (nozzles = still!).
