Hello,
I installed an exhaust gas temperature sensor in the manifold during my renovation project.
Okay, I need some values/numbers that a TDI engine can reach with good software.
Does anyone have experience with exhaust gas temperatures?
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
DJ.

Hi,
Your tuner knows this, and it's stated in the charger's datasheet.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
Are you sure about that?
Looking at some of the providers (and tuning files, and TDI emissions tests found online), I'd bet my bottom dollar that not every "tuner" knows [what they're doing].

It's not easy to get your hands on those... Gruß Ulf

You have to be able to get close enough first.
Hello, I completely agree with that.
Here, the datasheet is likely the simplest method, but I would also like to discuss this with Barfische, as he has often measured temperatures in the exhaust system.
Next problem:
Which tuner has a sufficiently fast temperature acquisition rate to accurately measure peaks in the exhaust flow?
Or better yet: Which tuner actually measures the exhaust gas temperature when creating its tuning files?
Given that the effort required for this is significantly greater than simply placing a vehicle on a roller system, the number of vehicles tested will certainly be very small. Furthermore, the financial cost associated with temperature measurement at the appropriate sampling rate should not be underestimated.
In the case of a parking assist system that makes adjustments after the initial test drive, this is definitely not the situation.
@dj
werd wohl dieses Teil (von Audi) kaufen und einbauen. Ready.

What has become of it?
The part was reportedly used in the A100 and AAV models. Unfortunately, no Audi workshop is familiar with this oil separator, and it's also not listed in the spare parts catalog.
Did you receive it?
If so, where was it sold, how much did it cost, and what is the order number?
Best regards, Jochen.

Hello everyone,
'Datasheet for the charger? I'm not familiar with it, I don't have one, and I doubt I can get one.'
I thought someone could give me a number that I could use as a reference point -> to generalize.
'@Jochen_145: I've managed to get that part now; it came from an A8 TDI. It's very inconspicuous! I can't give you the part number right now – I would have to look it up, and the car isn't here at the moment.'
Best regards,
DJ.

Hello,
If I remember correctly, the maximum exhaust gas temperature for a diesel engine with a VNT turbocharger is around 850 degrees Celsius, but I should double-check that value. Don't rely on that number too much. If you have any further questions, feel free to send me a private message.

Hello,
850°C is the short-term temperature limit of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Therefore, the turbocharger should also be able to withstand this temperature for a short period.
I was just reading a report about the BMW 318 TDS from the 1998 24 Hours race.
It also had a simple direct injection system. However, I don't know if it already had a variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbocharger installed. Its maximum power output was 245 hp and approximately 400 Nm (according to official specifications).
According to the report, the exhaust gas temperature should not exceed 800°C under any circumstances.
Best regards, Jochen.
