Hello, it's me again icon_smile.gif.
While replacing the shock absorbers (on a Golf IV ALH) this weekend, I also did a general checkup.
I noticed oil leaking from the rear of the engine, specifically on the engine block, and also on the transmission side.
You can find the oil leak starting at the bottom of the cylinder head and extending down the entire left side of the engine block. There's more oil on the left side than in the middle. It's collecting at the lowest connection point between the engine and the transmission, and it's dripping from there. It doesn't seem to be happening constantly, but my lower engine cover shows that some oil has already dripped down. By the way, I'm currently running a boost pressure of approximately 1.35 bar with 0.205 injectors.
Unfortunately, I couldn't determine the source of the oil leak. As I mentioned, it seems to be coming from around the cylinder head gasket area. Otherwise, I don't see any other signs of a cylinder head gasket failure, neither water leaks nor a significant amount of oil consumption (0.5L per 10,000 km).

Can oil leakage occur around the cylinder head gasket? Where else could it be coming from?
Greetings!

1.35 bar ???

Then the engine would have to produce a significant amount of power, approximately 140 horsepower.
Otherwise, the boost pressure is unnecessarily high.

Depending on the mileage, I would consider a slightly leaking seal to be acceptable.
Or did the head gasket blow due to excessive boost pressure?

I don't know if I have 140 horsepower... but even under full load, it still feels a bit light, and I'm still getting good acceleration icon_wink.gif.
I hope I haven't offended you. That's why I'm asking.

I don't think so either; otherwise, you would have had other symptoms icon_biggrin.gif.

What I could imagine is a leaking vacuum pump, a VDD (Variable Displacement Device), or a rear crankshaft seal.

The best approach is to clean and monitor.

Okay... I guess I should probably clean everything again and observe it closely. The vacuum pump is causing some trouble... but I think it's sealed. What do you mean by "VDD"?
Greetings.
