Hello,

'Has anyone used the 'comfort blinker' function (also known as 'highway blinker') on a...'
It is possible to activate a Skoda Fabia manufactured in 2003.

In some posts, it is mentioned that starting with control unit part number C or higher, it is compatible with the 5051/5052.
It's likely a software bug that was present from the factory.

The part number of the control unit is: 6Q1937049C.
encoding: 26026
Here, it didn't work with the VAG 5052 not.

Does anyone have more experience?

Sure, no problem. Here's the translation:

'Thank you in advance.'

Mati.

What exactly was done with the VAS? Was only the coding changed, or was a software adaptation performed?

Hi,

If it doesn't work with your control unit, you can still do this:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

However, I wouldn't give up so quickly, Sebastian knows a lot about this, and if the issue is related to the integrated control unit, that solution is definitely preferable.

Best regards, Rainer.

And for those who aren't so good at DIY, they can also buy the set from "freundlich"... I think it will also fit in a Fabia.

Thank you all for the answers and the excellent instructions.

I'll try out this alternative.

Greetings.

In what price range does such a retrofit typically fall? icon_confused.gif

Hello.

So, I got the retrofit kit from the dealer.

Item No. 000 998 229 A, price: €34.90.

It includes an instruction manual with a wiring diagram, but it didn't fit me at all.
I recommend getting a wiring diagram for your Fabia and following it.
to connect.
If you're not completely unfamiliar with automotive electrical systems, it's relatively straightforward.

@charly

But the original turn signal lever doesn't support that, right? At least, in my car, there's no "tap" function, only on/off. And if I have to manually return the lever to the starting position after blinking three times, the function would be useless icon_evil.gif.

Hello.

@210Viewing profile: 210

That is possible for every vehicle.
The aftermarket turn signal module determines whether it will blink three times or stop immediately after being turned off based on the duration the lever is activated.

I can compare it to the Crafter. I have one as a company car, and it originally came with that feature.
On the Crafter, if you press the button once, it blinks three times. If you press and hold the button to engage the locking mechanism, it will continue to blink until you release the button.

With the aftermarket taillights, it works like this: When you turn on the turn signal, it flashes three times. That's how it's supposed to work. However, if you turn on the turn signal and immediately turn it off again (within 2-3 seconds), it will flash three more times after you turn it off.

When turning normally, it usually takes longer than 2-3 seconds. However, immediately after releasing the steering wheel lever (whether it's a mechanical or automatic system that centers the steering wheel), it stops.

It's not really different from the original. However, I can only recommend that anyone who drives a lot on the highway should get something like this. It's a truly important safety-related purchase.

Best regards, Charly.

Hi,

You can do better with a custom build icon_wink.gif. I set that time in the software to 0.5 seconds or so... so, it only happens three times when you're typing. If you click it once and then turn it off again, it definitely won't happen three times.
