Hello!
I have, as I mentioned before, the "rough idle during the warm-up phase."
( /viewtopic.php?t=8994).
Now, there are quite a few "Make Sensible Offers" listings on eBay, and I thought, if there's one available right now, I might as well go for it...
Does anyone know the part number of the 'HJ successor' control unit? I can't make sense of the table in /viewtopic.php?t=7025&start=24#top - or does that mean there is no successor for the HJ, but only a new data version? In that case, I can forget about trying to find information about it, because there are usually no details available for that - and the HJ is not updateable.
EDIT: Upon closer inspection of the table, it appears that 038 998 019 B is likely the replacement solution (although it's a "significantly different" part number). *Die Fahrbahn ist ein graues Band, weisse Streifen, grüner Rand*

Hi,
...and the HJ is not updateable.
It depends on what you mean by 'updatable.'
The 019HJ software can be updated via a standard diagnostic flash.
I am aware of at least two versions or editions from the years 1490 and 1576.
Sometimes, other data sets can also be flashed into the original ECUs.
(e.g., what was previously version 019CE has been updated to version 019MQ).
Best regards,
Rudi

Apparently, the friendly person (again!) told me something incorrect; he said that software updates weren't possible on this MSG!

Okay - according to VAG-COM, I already have part number 1576: 038 906 019 HJ,,1.9l R4 EDC G000AG 1576. So, it seems that the changes regarding the "unstable warm-up phase" are not only related to the software, and I actually need a 038 998 019 B?!?

Well, supposedly the CE version wasn't upgradable to the MX version either.
However, the hardware is (at least functionally) identical. I suspect it's more likely to be...
'logistical' problem at VAG (also, it's also possible to address it through sales).
Make money from control units ).

According to the thread mentioned above, it seems that for the manual transmission, data version 5259 is sufficient; however, a new MSG is required for automatic transmissions. It is likely that the VW software does not display the newer data version for automatic transmissions to the service technician; therefore, he says: "It's not possible" .
Is it possible to access the corresponding files directly somehow? Then I would buy an HJ-MSG on e**y and experiment a little (you can certainly also code the data status 5259 for automatic transmission ). *Die Fahrbahn ist ein graues Band, weisse Streifen, grüner Rand*

That's not as safe as it seems.
If there is no encoding present in that data that is compatible with the automatic transmission control unit (TCU) of the G4, you will inevitably encounter problems with the 5259 when installed in a car with an automatic transmission (driving behavior, error messages, etc.). Gruß Ulf

Thank you for the correction... However, someone else needs to test it now, because I sold the control unit along with the car - so unfortunately, I don't have any experience to share from my side.
I did manage to buy a replacement windshield wiper motor on eBay, but the installation failed because the wiper arm was completely corroded and wouldn't budge (okay, I also don't have a puller).

Pete. *Die Fahrbahn ist ein graues Band, weisse Streifen, grüner Rand*
