Hello.
My friend bought an A3 TDI. According to the previous owner, the fuel injection pump was removed and the potentiometer was adjusted.
Well, essentially, that's the same thing as the '10-cent tuning' method, isn't it? The engine isn't very powerful; it originally had 90 horsepower, but now it has 118 horsepower according to the dynamometer test.
Okay, so what exactly was adjusted (potentiometer)?
Perhaps you could help us.
Best regards!

Hi.
If it's a pump with an HDK sensor, such an improvement wouldn't be possible without a flashing preheating lamp and/or noticeable jerking in the partial load range --> Technical article on RWG (likely referring to a specific technology or system).
I don't know how that applies to very old Pottinger pumps (do they use round instead of oval 7-pin connectors?). Gruß Ulf

Hi.
Okay, so the preheating light isn't blinking. Slight vibration only in the lower RPM range (around 1000-1500 RPM), barely noticeable, but if you're paying attention, you can detect it.
Well, considering the age, it's a 1997 model, so I don't think it has the older type fuel injectors, do you think?
Best regards,
Thank you.

Hi.
"As far as I know, the 1997 models definitely came with the HDK pump."
I don't believe it has 118 horsepower. It seems the measurement was likely greatly exaggerated, and it's probably that the engine was quite powerful from the factory.
For example, from 98 to at best 110 horsepower, okay... Gruß Ulf
