Hello everyone!
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything suitable in the archive, and I would like to apologize in advance if this topic has already been discussed .
Yesterday, I filled up at an ESSO station. Since one of the diesel pumps was occupied, I drove to the 'truck section,' where each pump had a hose marked for cars and one for trucks. I was surprised that when I used the car hose, the price displayed was for truck diesel (0.5 cents less). I'm also assuming that the diesel dispensed from the car hose is the same as the diesel from the truck hose?
Gut... it's also possible that the price was incorrectly displayed, and the pump is actually drawing diesel from two different tanks.
Perhaps someone here knows more about this topic .
Have a great weekend!
Regards,
DENNIS

Hello Dennis!
There are no quality differences between diesel fuel for passenger cars and diesel fuel for trucks.
The only difference at the fuel pump is the larger nozzle. This is necessary to ensure a higher flow rate, so that the truck drivers don't have to wait forever to fill their tanks.
The lower price is a form of quantity discount, as trucks consume significantly more liters of fuel than passenger cars.
I hope this information was helpful to you.
Best regards, Chris.

That's not entirely correct. We operate a truck fuel station with a diesel pump, but for a few years now, the two tanks have been connected. Since then, both pumps dispense the same fuel (diesel for passenger cars). However, since then, the price has been the same for both.
'Previously, diesel fuel for trucks was cheaper, and according to Aral, the diesel fuel for trucks is not quite as high quality as the diesel fuel for passenger cars. Aral, for example, advertises that passenger car diesel has particularly high cetane numbers, etc.'
Let's assume that the 'Rohdiesel' (unrefined diesel) is coming from the truck fuel pump, meaning the substance that comes directly from the refinery without any brand-specific additives. In that case, the diesel fuel in the truck would be the same as the diesel fuel found at many independent gas stations.
He's definitely still within the safe DIN range for diesel fuel, which means it's suitable for cars, although perhaps not 'ideal.' But whether you can actually notice a difference, or whether all the fuss about car diesel is just marketing, is another question.

Meanwhile, some companies offer a special diesel fuel specifically for heavy-duty vehicles ('truck diesel').
In these cases, the additive package has been adjusted to meet the requirements of commercial vehicles, which are different from those of passenger cars. Therefore, it is not advisable to use diesel fuel designed for commercial vehicles in passenger cars.
If I can find the file, I'll have more information on the topic tomorrow.

Okay, I always fill up at my usual DEA gas station at the truck diesel pump. Since I also have a CE driver's license, the high flow rate isn't really a problem anymore. (Ugh, getting completely soaked with diesel isn't pleasant!)
Since I often drove there to get gas, the cashier told me that I should use the truck pump.
I then also mentioned the missing additives to her. She said that those days are over. At regular gas stations, the diesel comes from a single tank! Otherwise, the logistical effort would be too great for DEA.
Only when a transport company delivers diesel directly to a gas station will most of the additives be missing.
Almost every Saturday morning, there's a price difference of 2 cents between diesel for trucks and gasoline for cars at the gas station.
IT'S WORTH IT!
Regards,
Manuel.
