Hello,
Does anyone have an installation guide for retrofitting the GRA (presumably a specific automotive feature)?
I have the steering column switch and the wiring harness, but unfortunately, they are for models produced from August '97 onwards, while mine is from August '95. I might need to rewire the harness, and apparently, the connector is located in a different place as well.
Thank you and best regards.
Burli.

Hi,
The installation instructions that came with my steering column switch (part number 1H0 998 527) apply to Golf and Passat models from '93 onwards (specifically for engines 1Z, AHU, and AFN).
The corresponding connector for the plug was located under the carpet, in the area near the brake pedal.
If necessary, I can also email you the instructions.
Best regards, Rudi.

Hello Rudi,
Okay, the plug should be located behind the fuse box, but in my case, there are at least two free plugs there: one blue and one black.
I would be very grateful for the instructions.
You will receive the email address via private message.
Thank you and best regards.

Take a look at my website. It's for the Golf 3 TDI, but it should work the same way on a Passat as well.

I've already checked your website, but unfortunately, it doesn't specify the color of the connector. Also, I can't make sense of the last instruction because the cable is directly connected to the control unit (GRA), not to the steering wheel!
upper connector housing of the cable harness.
Connect the GRA connector to the turn signal/GRA switch.
-Insert the connector unit -1, with its dovetail feature, into the slot located below the...
Steering wheel lock - the corresponding slot - engages.
Thank you and best regards.

In the second line, there is a blue 'HERE'.
There's a wiring diagram with color codes.
In the area of circuit diagrams, you can also find diagrams that show the wiring configuration for your switch.

I did find the wiring diagram, and it mentions a connector on the steering column.
I don't think I need that one, though, because my '97 model has a wiring harness that plugs directly in and then connects to the fuse box.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Burli.
