Hello,
Recently, I had some trouble with my 1Z Vento. It would only run in idle mode or only with the cruise control engaged!
According to the VAG Com, there are implausible values from the throttle potentiometer. So, at VW, a new one was installed. It costs a whopping 338 euros!!! (must have gold in it). The sensor was replaced, and now it runs. Now my question: There's an adjustment screw on the top of the accelerator pedal! What is it for, and how much should it be adjusted? Perhaps it adjusts the preload of the short cable? In the EDC (Electronic Damping Control), idle is 0% and full throttle is 100%.
Or does the accelerator pedal need to be re-calibrated to the engine control unit?
By the way, the fuel pump apparently wasn't broken. When I disconnected it, water came out of the connector! Or how did water get under the dashboard? The ventilation system seems to be dry.

Sincerely,
Kalle.

Hi Kalle,

If the sensor reaches 100% approximately 1 cm before the bottom of the pedal travel, the sensor is optimally adjusted.
That's it, no learning or anything like that required.

What should the values be on the (gas) potentiometer, in Ohms, at full load and at idle?

'Thank you.'

Hello Tim,

Pedal not depressed:

1+3: 0.6..1.4 kOhms
2+3: 0.6..1.4 kOhms
4+6: 0.6..1.4 kOhms

Pedal to the metal.
4 + 6: infinity

In addition, for vehicles with automatic transmission:

Pedal not depressed:
5 + 6: infinity

Pedal to the metal.
5+6: 0.6..1.4 kOhms
Tschüss

Hello,
Thanks for the answers. I just thought that the adjustment screw looked like it might be important.
Best regards,
Kalle.
