Hello.

I installed a boost gauge in my Golf III TD, and I think that when the engine oil is at operating temperature (according to the gauge, 85-100°C) and I press the accelerator pedal so that the turbocharger generates boost, I can smell a slight odor of engine oil or even exhaust fumes. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to install a filter or something similar to eliminate this smell from inside the car?

Otherwise, I don't smell anything in the car, only when the turbocharger is working, and then only when the engine is warm?

Thank you for the help icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif.

Best regards, Mark icon_lol.gif

Hi.

Try activating the engine compartment indicator light using a syringe, like a doctor's syringe.
If you find that the pressure is slowly decreasing, you probably have a leak somewhere (happy searching icon_sad.gif), which will give you that smell... I would then plug it, rather than messing around with filters icon_wink.gif.

It would be interesting to know what it actually was.
