Hello everyone.

Unfortunately, I had a minor collision with a tree stump the other day.
"Fortunately," it happened almost right outside my front door.
Initial damage assessment: OK, bumper torn. And the ventilation grille has fallen off.

This morning, I intended to bring it to work.
As soon as I started driving, I immediately noticed the bizarre hissing sound.
So, I turned it around and parked the car again.

After disassembling the car so extensively today, it was clear that, in addition to the damaged bumper, the radiator was also completely broken.
The entire lower plastic part is completely torn.
The bracket also neatly punched a hole there.

Now, to my question.
Do I really have to install another expensive original part (280€)?
Or would a good one from the accessories market also work?
Are there really such significant differences in performance?

I would also consider a good used one, but even those are being sold for around €150-200 at the major online auction site, which is a very low price.

But that would already be a small saving.

Does anyone happen to have one lying around *looking hopefully*?

I need one for a 1.9 TDI AWX engine, specifically from a Passat or Superb.
Although I have little hope.

I thoroughly inspected the piping, but I couldn't find any fragments.
Is there still a risk, even with overpressure in the system, that small parts could be torn off or have been torn off?
Gruß

Hi,

Something from the accessories should also work.
Or you can buy one at an auction. There are many available.
sufficiently.

Best regards,

Hello everyone.

I decided to go with an original part instead of a replica because I was concerned about the uncertain cooling performance and the sometimes strange dimensions of the replicas.

Can anyone share some information about the issue of charge air cooler pipe contamination?
Should I be worried about that? Or does the air being blown outwards prevent anything like that from happening?

"The LLD (likely referring to a specific device or component) cannot do anything on its own, but I would definitely clean everything with engine cleaner/brake cleaner before completing the process!"

Hello everyone.

I've already cleaned everything thoroughly.
This oil and soot mixture is also disgusting.

And these quick-release mechanisms certainly aren't the ultimate solution.
They're leaking everywhere.
I have an oil stain on my undercarriage that's about the size of my hand. new_cry.gif

I was just concerned that he might have inhaled some crumbs.

Although I haven't found any wilting anywhere.
Neither in the oil residue from the lubricating fluid nor in the pipes.

I'm just hoping for the best.

Thank you.

Here's a picture of the LLK.

The quick-release fasteners (brackets) can also be replaced icon_rolleyes.gif.

'I wouldn't buy a used LLK (likely referring to a specific type of engine component) from 'e...' because they often sell LLKs that have been damaged by turbocharger failures. Over time, small pieces can break off, travel through the engine, and then end up damaging the exhaust turbine.'
So, it's best to just stay away from it.

@ teileklaus

Even if I replace the seals, the oil will still be in there and will eventually leak out.
I think the whole mechanism is complete nonsense.
It would have been better to have clean hoses with proper clamps.

But I personally find it too complicated to replace everything.

@EMSimASZ
That's exactly why I've decided to go with original parts.
