Hello everyone,
"I've been reading this forum for a long time and I'm impressed by the level of knowledge. I've also used parts from Rainer to help improve my A3, and I've been driving it for almost 100,000 km without any problems... except for a head gasket issue at 230,000 km. I'm a qualified automotive mechanic myself."

I need some advice from you diesel experts!

I'm having problems with my Audi A6 2.5 TDI AKN Avant quattro, 6-speed. I've already extensively used the search function without success.
After the car suddenly shut off with the usual error codes: "Fuel injection pump control unit," I carefully checked the fuses, wiring, and main relay. I then installed a refurbished pump (059130106BX, Bosch Service), and the timing is correctly set (using a tool). I bled the system according to Elsa-win, using a vacuum pump until all air was removed, and activated the in-tank pump, etc. However, the car still won't start. There are no error codes, no air in the system, and diesel is leaking from the lines under pressure when starting. However, there is no smoke coming from the exhaust.

I want to be sure before I return the pump and have it checked.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

"Were the fuel lines also bled? If diesel is coming out of the injectors, it should actually start, provided the injection timing is correct. And if it doesn't, then after a while, you'll likely see smoke coming out of the exhaust."

Best regards, Rainer.

hello!
Sure, thanks for the quick reply!

Okay, I opened the fuel injection lines when starting the engine until diesel fuel started to leak out. There was a lot of fuel! I'll check tonight, using a removed injector, to see if the pressure is sufficient to open the injectors.

Okay,
I wanted to clarify something.
After receiving a second pump from this Bosch service and the car still not starting, I slowly started to doubt myself.
I then checked everything a thousand times. After careful consideration, I concluded that the problem must be with the fuel injection pump. I then bought another one (just one!), and the engine started on the first attempt.
I believe this is a clear case of fraud! I now have to try to get my money back from the first company (Bosch service???) with the help of a lawyer. I will gladly provide the name of this company, which is located in the northern Ruhr area, if requested, so that no one else has to go through the same [expletive]!

Best,
Tom

Unbelievable! icon_eek.gif

Unfortunately, the Bosch service centers in our area aren't the best, but I haven't been ripped off yet.

They probably didn't even notice icon_smile.gif.

"I now believe they simply replaced the control unit and that's it. They didn't adjust the software to the pump, nor did they check or even overhaul the pump's mechanics. But that's exactly what's written on my bill: 'Refurbished' (just typing that makes me angry again)."
It might sometimes work with a bit of luck, but in my opinion, it's complete nonsense. I definitely don't want anything like that in my car.
This adjustment can only be performed on a pump test bench, and the process can take up to 8 hours.
