If someone could tell me whether connecting the original wiring harness (or a replica) would also activate the trailer light indicator on the dashboard, and if it would be a plug-and-play solution, I would prefer that option.

Okay, so I bought a detachable tow hitch with the corresponding 13-pin electrical kit from Westfalia. The electrical kit is a plug-and-play solution; you simply plug it into the connectors on the rear lights on the left and right sides. Then, the cable is run through the vehicle's body to the outside, towards the tow hitch, and the individual wires are connected to the hitch. The turn signal indicator light is also activated, with no annoying beeping or other nonsense. So, I would recommend this electrical kit.
