For reasons I won't go into, I wanted to get your opinion on whether users should be banned from this forum.

Currently, I'm seeing quite a few posts from a user who disassembled their diesel pump and doesn't know what to do next. It's definitely helpful to be able to assist someone like that.

But what if this user...
- provides little or inaccurate information about his problems?
- constantly creating new threads on the same topic?
- Attacks the forum's regular users (and even the administrator)?

To Rainer: Also, in addition: The dogs involved are barking.
I still hope that you will soon achieve administrator status in terms of behavior.
Okay, the wiser person gives in, and I think that's you, Rainer!

This survey, however, is not specifically related to this individual case, but is intended for a general audience.

Should users like that be banned from this forum, or should we continue to try to help them even in situations like this?

edit: Poll deleted, see below

Regards,
-Private

P.S. Since this is my first poll, I hope it works out, even though a poll isn't displayed in the preview...

Hi.

Our "house manager," Rainer, sometimes makes decisions on his own, especially when things get too chaotic.

I believe we should generally keep this option open and leave the decision to a single member in each individual case. And, in my opinion, that person should continue to be the "driving force" behind this site, and the one who invests the most effort.

What would you say if the majority votes "don't reject" – should that be a free pass for all sorts of substandard work (from people who pass the admission test) to be produced here, without consequence or interruption?

I completely agree. It's Rainer's decision, and only he should decide who is no longer allowed to participate icon_cool.gif.
We're not in some kind of 'Big Brother' situation where someone is constantly being nominated for elimination...
I can also, to some extent, understand Marco (the guy who took the pump apart), because if my pump were scattered in pieces on the floor, I would also panic... icon_eek.gif icon_evil.gif

@private area

You forgot one option...

-> just ignore it...

Based on experience, this is the best method to either educate or discourage a completely unteachable user. Furthermore, it tends to generate the least amount of negativity and avoids overly enthusiastic or aggressive comments.

Hi,

-> simply ignore...

I also think this is the best option.
Before any troublemakers create new fake accounts to stir up unrest.

Best regards, Rudi.

That's not so simple; being kicked out once already means quite a bit of effort for someone who's causing trouble icon_cool.gif.

Marko and I were both a little irritated.

Best regards, Rainer.

Of course, I still wanted to leave the decision about whether to evict someone to Rainer, but I was mainly interested in knowing whether, in your opinion, something like that happens more often or less often.

But you're right, often these kinds of issues are resolved much more easily and with far less animosity simply by ignoring them.

@joergs:
You are right, this survey should have been Rainer's responsibility, and it was neither clever nor fair (towards Rainer and Marko) of me. I apologize to both of you for that.

Marko actually sent me a private message recently, saying that he has reached an agreement with Rainer and the matter is now closed.

I'm going to withdraw again now, and hopefully, in the future, I will think more carefully about such pointless actions.

Regards,
-Private

"Hello, that's fine!"

I will unfortunately have to continue using the option of expulsion in the future, as ignoring the problem only works in theory.
The best examples are the forums fmso.de and fatty-fuels.de, which were so severely filled with content by a single user over months that, while it was sometimes amusing, it eventually became annoying, and people started avoiding the forums.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi!

I agree with Rainer's views.

I think we should always support each other in finding solutions to problems.
Even though there are occasional problems with it.

Okay, let's get started...

Hello everyone,

I fully agree as well.

The poll could probably be deleted from the thread, leaving only the thread itself... what do you think about that?

Best regards,

Jan.

@ Private section: How do you define "untalented"?

"Is it true that only people who match your level of intelligence are allowed here? Or do you need a university degree? Maybe there should be a test to register on the forum?"

And rude towards whom? You? The moderators' language?
To the avenger of the wise and the learned?

Please don't be offended, but I've never read a productive or informative post from you; instead, I've only seen insults and criticism directed at people who don't know what they're talking about.
So, you're the first candidate for a ban.
And finally, understand this.
WHAT IS A FORUM FOR IF IT'S NOT TO HELP PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW ANYTHING????

And Reiner and Ulf are also doing fine without your help.

@joergs:
Good idea to delete the survey; it has just been done.

Maybe one should do a test to register on the forum?

These already exist.

And unfriendly towards whom? You? The language of the moderators? The avenger of the knowledgeable and scholars?
I think that we shouldn't be unfriendly to anyone in this forum.

Please don't be angry, but I have never read a productive or informative post from you, only insults and criticism directed at people who don't know what they're talking about.
So, you would be the first candidate for a ban.
I haven't written much so far, because I generally only write something when I'm sure about it. It's no use to anyone if I just randomly guess. For example, it didn't benefit anyone that you claimed the engine speed was temperature-controlled via the control unit. (Except maybe for the 'golden wrench' for you icon_smile.gif).

I have already acknowledged that my post in this thread was completely inappropriate and that I am likely the first candidate for a ban, and I have apologized for that.

And Reiner and Ulf are also doing well without your help.
Yes, I'm sure of that too. That's why something like that shouldn't happen again.

-Private
