Is my outdoor temperature display inaccurate?

I'm experiencing similar issues. The display initially shows incorrect information, but after a few minutes of driving, it eventually displays the correct value. However, I haven't really thought about what might be causing this yet.

IMHO, it could also be due to water or moisture on the sensor. In that case, a slight evaporative cooling effect would occur initially, and the temperature of the water droplet would be displayed. Once the moisture evaporates, the sensor temperature would rise to match the outside air temperature.

Just a thought...

HI!

It happened to my Golf 4 too. If the sensor (located in the black grid below the driver's headlight in the bumper) is definitely dry and clean, then try removing the sensor and cleaning its contacts.
If that doesn't help, the only solution is to replace the sensor, which isn't very expensive. It's not a problem with the instrument cluster!

Well, mine was also a bit slow to respond. I parked it in the shade, and it only showed 15°C (59°F), even though it was already 30°C (86°F) outside. The climate control system then operated at a reduced level.
After some time, the temperature suddenly increased dramatically. I would replace it!

Hi!

There are two temperature sensors: one in the bumper and another in the air box, within the airflow of the interior ventilation system. It is likely that ONE of these sensors is providing an implausible reading.
You can query the values using the Climacodes. For Audi, it's channels 58 and 59, while for VW, I believe it's different channels. This allows you to check the sensors with minimal effort.

Best regards,
Uwe

Okay, but the module located in the dashboard isn't responsible for the display of tire pressure information on the instrument cluster or multifunction display; that's solely the responsibility of the module located in the bumper!
