Passat Comfort Module 46 with Soft Close

Hello everyone,

'I want to enable the comfort closing/opening function (windows and sunroof) on my Passat 3BG Variant, manufactured in 2002, so that it automatically closes when I lock the car with the remote. After extensive searching here and on other websites, I found that this is possible on some Audi models and US vehicles, by recoding +64 and then accessing adaptation channel 62. Unfortunately, my control unit, 1C0 959 799 B, does not have this channel (not available). Also, besides the existing soft coding 00259 and the 00258 that I tested (single door opening, which works!), it seems to accept no other new codings.'
Does anyone perhaps have a list of working codes? Or, even better, has anyone activated the mentioned function in their control unit and can share their code with me?
Perhaps there's also the option of telling the control unit that it is now in the USA .

Unfortunately, VW control units do not support this function. In the USA, there is an add-on module that provides this and other functions.

I've already read that. However, I'm definitely not looking for a hardware solution – it would involve too much work on the vehicle. I've also read that different software versions are used in the same control units, depending on the specific vehicle variant.

Does anyone know of any software that can program the EEPROMs in the engine control units via the OBD interface?

I've also been searching, because I'm experiencing the same issue with my Passat 3BG, manufactured in 2001. Unfortunately, it's as Bertil described. Apparently, there's a different software version that would allow it, but it's buggy and therefore not officially released by VW. The bug is that in case of obstructions in the window (like children's hands, etc.), the emergency function, which would open the window, doesn't activate! Unfortunately!

That's correct, but nowadays, many control units (not all) no longer use EEPROMs (because they are too expensive), so you might have problems with a general troubleshooting tip. My comfort module definitely doesn't have an EEPROM anymore.

Here's another tip: Try finding an Audi ECU (Engine Control Unit) and adapting it to your car.

It's possible that it's not an extra chip, but rather that the internal resources of the microcontroller are being used.

'But where else would you store error codes and settings (encodings, alarm settings, etc.)? Storing them in the program flash would be quite cumbersome...'

That's correct, but the processor is an OTP (One-Time Programmable) device, and for larger production volumes, mask programming is also possible. The error codes and settings are stored in a small EEPROM area, while the program itself resides in the ROM (OTP) area.

I was just holding an ECU that had everything stored in the EEPROM (unfortunately, it was for a BMW).
